4 reasons to visit Corfu
Corfu now has a small place in my heart. I was a little bit skeptical about going to Corfu. I don't know why. I just was. But I loved every moment spent on this beautiful island. You need to know that you need to take a ferry boat if you are travelling by car. Or you can travel by bus or plane. The ride with the ferry is between 1 hour and 2 hours.
1. Everything is green and green is everything. What you'll see first about Corfu is all the greenery. The island is full of vegetation everywhere. Being surrounded by all kinds of trees and flowers is beautiful to me. But Corfu is not your typical greek island with sandy beaches. There are just a few sandy beaches in Corfu which are quite isolated.
2. Paleokastritsa. We stayed in Paleokastritsa and I loved it. It's said that this is one of them most beautiful places on the whole island and I couldn't agree more. Paleokastritsa has actually several beaches and to get to them you have to either go on some stairs or walk even 40 minutes depending where your accommodation is. We stayed near taverna Spiros and we had to walk 40 minutes to get to Agios Spiridon beach. This one is located next to the monastery of Paleokastritsa. Another favorite of mine is Agiatriada beach. Just look at it. This has been my phone wallpaper since we came back. And this was in May.
3. Taverna Spiros. I love food so if I can find at least one place where I can eat delicious food it's enough for me to want to visit that place. I don't think that I overreact when I say that here I ate the best food in Corfu. Everything that we ate was delicious and the portion was enormous. Dolmades, special chicken souvlaki, gyros, stuffed vegetables, stifado. EVERYTHING! Plus if you order certain dishes you get pancakes at the end.
4. Corfu red beer. I'm not a fan of beer but this special red beer that they have on the island is good. It's so rich in flavor plus on hot days a cold beer is perfect. There is a place in Corfu town where they serve beer on draft and it's heaven. The name of the place is Alle Koukou on Tripadvisor if you wanna look it up.
Let me know what are your reasons to visit Corfu or go back to Corfu.
