Everything you need to know about Paleokastritsa in Corfu

I truly believe that Paleokastritsa is the most beautiful place/spot in Corfu. It doesn't have sandy beaches but I couldn't care less. But it has the most beautiful and crystal clear waters.

Paleokastritsa it's a small village in Corfu located on the west side of the island. It is approximately 25 km away from Corfu town which is on the east side. You will find here lots of tavernas, small shops and beaches.

There are a few beaches but my favorite is definitely Agiatriada beach. What you need to know about the beaches in Paleokastritsa is that in order to get to them (most of them) you will need to go up and down on stairs. So if you're not that active or if you simply hate stairs, Paleokastritsa might not be the ideal place for you. On most of the beaches you will find some sunbeds to rent if you want to. Spiros beach is another small beach but with crystal clear water. When I say small it's like 25 meters long, that small. You'll also take the stairs so be prepared for lots of exercise.

There are lots of tavernas to choose from but my favorite definitely remains taverna Spiros. For sure the most tavernas are located around Agios Spiridon beach which is the one next to the monastery of Paleokastritsa. The prices are kind of the same so that's good. Between 5 to 7 euros for dolmades, 3 to 4 for a beer, 7 to 10 for souvlaki.

There are also several bus stops and they are marked with a small poster where you will see the schedule. Be careful because you need to respect the hours that are mentioned on the poster. They might be late 10-20 minute but don't count on that because sometimes they will be at the exact hour and you'll have to wait another hour for the next one. A one way ticket to Corfu town is 2,5 euros per person. Also keep in mind that we were in May so during summer the price might be a little bit higher.

The last thing I want to tell you is that you can rent boats if you are interested in visiting other beaches. There are a few beaches and caves that are only reachable by boat. The prices start from 10 euros and can go up to 100 or even more depending on the capacity of the boat. With 10 euros you can rent a small "taxi" that will take you to see around Paleokastritsa for 15 to 30 minutes.
